The Montessori Classroom

Montessori classrooms are set up like small communities, where children are given the liberty to practice social skills that pertain to real life situations.  The children practice skills that lead to inner-discipline.  Children learn to walk in a classroom, talk with quiet voices with someone at their table, and learn patience when teaching a younger child.  At GMDS, each classroom is a family that learns to communicate and work together harmoniously.

Caterpillar Classroom

Our 2-year-old student classroom is a small community where young children delight in learning and are encouraged in the process of increasingly focused discovery.  These experiences lay the foundations of concentration and independence, which prepares them for the next classrooms.

Admiral & Monarch Classrooms

Our 3-5-year-old student classrooms are rich communities that provide exercises in practical life, language development, faith formation, mathematics, geography, history, biology, music, and art.

Technology

While we all delight in a moment captured, especially of our children, the use of cell phones and technology by teachers in our classrooms is limited to only specific, appropriate times. Technology has been proven to be distracting for a developing child and learning students. Our ambition is to reinforce the Montessori Method across all aspects of the classroom.

Teachers will only respond to emergency messages during the school day. If you are part of the GMDS community, information and photos of your children can be found on the password-protected Community page.
